This is a fabulous Antique 18th C. French Provencal walnut Secretaire a Abattant or fall front desk. The fold out secretary is very functional. This elegant writing desk crafted from solid walnut, stands on four cabriole legs and is adorned with the original Bronze details. Center scroll with two drawers at each side. The top folds down to reveal a large leather top writing surface, with six small drawers, a center niche and a secret storage compartment. The mechanism is also original. This is a quite unusual desk as it can float in a room versus staying against the wall as the back is finished like the two sides which allows this desk to be in the center of a room.
