Large James Rosenquist Lithograph

Large James Rosenquist Lithograph

Overview:
74" W x 37" H

Description:
Large and colorful "Tampa - New York, 1188" lithograph by James Rosenquist (b. 1933). Signed, titled, dated, and numbered 29 by the artist from a small edition of 40. Provenance: The Rosenthal Collection, NY. James Rosenquist is one of the most important American artists of our time. An early protagonist of the pop-art movement in the United States, Rosenquist adapted the visual language of advertising and pop culture into the context of fine art by taking fragmented advertising images and combining them onto canvases to create visual stories, making familiar objects appear more abstract and provocative. Rosenquist's works are in the permanent collections of museums worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Guggenheim, MOMA, the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Tate Modern in London.
