Description:
This set of two arm chairs were designed and created by Molla in the 1950s. They are made of cast aluminum and are painted in a flat black with the seahorses painted in a silver metallic color. There is also a two-seater settee available in the same pattern and coloration. Molla The Molla brand traces its roots back to the 19th century and the Artificial Flower Tool company founded in New York City by Charles P. Molla and Amadeo Arigoni. In the 1930s Molla Inc. began producing wrought iron outdoor furniture as well. To help emphasize their expertise the company produced 28-page leather-bound books that doubled as sales catalogs. Molla furniture was trumpeted as being rustproof and chip-proof. As New Yorkers began to populate the Hamptons in the 1940s with beach homes Molla helped pioneer the use of cast aluminum in patio furniture that would not be affected by the harsh salt air.
