The beautiful Art Deco center tables was created by the iconic French firm of Maison Rinck in the 1920s. The piece was created in Makassar ebony solids and veneers. Makassar ebony wood. Makassar ebony wood is variegated, streaky brown and black, nearly always wide-striped. It is considered a highly valuable wood for turnery, Fine cabinet work and joinery, and is much sought for posts (tokobashira) in traditional Japanese houses.
