Higgins Glass Pendant Necklace. The Higgins company was founded in 1948 in Chicago Illinois by Michael and Frances Higgins. They both met at the Chicago Institute of Design, and in the early years, they worked out of their small apartment. In 1957 they moved into a partnership with the Dearborn Glass Company of Chicago. They gave new birth to ancient glass fusing, which was the layering of enameled pieces of glass on top of each other. They were known for modernist designs. Michael died in 1999 and wife Frances in 2004. The pendant measure about 4 1/2 inches by 2 inches. A braided cord measuring about 22 inches, is adorned with brass tubes, disks and beads, with pink and black glass beads as well.
